A new date has been set for track’s next world championships, which will be held in America for the first time.

The meet in Eugene, Oregon, is now slated for July 15-24, 2022. Originally planned for 2021, the event was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

World Athletics, track’s governing body, made the change because COVID-19 forced the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics to be shifted to 2021.

When the world championships are finally held, they will be at a completely renovated Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
